Brianna Daniels, P.E., and Rebecca McCoy, of Penfield & Smith, Become CSI Certified Construction Documents Technologists
Santa Barbara, CA – Penfield & Smith is pleased to announce that two Central Coast Branch employees have become CSI Certified Construction Document Technologists.
Ms. Daniels has worked with Penfield & Smith since 2001, and is currently a Senior Engineer with the Central Coast Branch office, located in Santa Maria. Ms. Daniels helps to lead a team of young engineers, while managing simultaneous projects at deadlines. She has proven to be a true leader in her field. Prior to joining Penfield & Smith, Ms. Daniels worked as an estimator for a Los Angeles based Construction Company, and also spent time as a Project Design Coordinator prior to gaining her P.E. licensure. Working with many projects that require construction documents is what ultimately encouraged Ms. Daniels to seek and receive certification.
Ms. McCoy is an Executive Assistant in the Central Coast Regional office and has been with Penfield & Smith since February 2005. While working as an administrative assistant, Ms. McCoy has been exposed to the process of pre-design through final construction design, and has spent many days formatting and developing specification project manuals for use in P&S design projects. After working almost three years with engineers in developing Project Manuals for public agency and federal projects, Ms. McCoy was encouraged to seek her first professional certification by several of the branch engineers.
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is the national standard in the field of construction project delivery methods, which includes construction documents and specification writing, production, and coordination.
Construction Document Technologists have demonstrated an ability to understand and interpret written construction documents, which includes roles and relationships of construction project participants. CDTs work to improve communication among all members of the construction team. CDTs belong to a select and highly respected group of construction professionals – architects, contractors, contract administrators, specifiers, manufacturer’s representatives – known in the industry for their comprehensive knowledge of the writing and management of construction documents.
